My name is Ethan Silberberg and I am a sophomore at Robbinsville High School. This is my second year on our robotics team, Nemesis. When I was in elementary school, I attended Nemesis’ Discovery Day, which showcases robots to young children, and it was then that I first heard about the robotics team at the high school. After a presentation about the team was given in 8th grade, I decided to try out for the team during my freshman year. Following an intense internal debate, I decided to try out for the marketing subteam instead of the build subteam because I felt that my skill set would be better suited for marketing. From a young age, I have always enjoyed presenting, even hosting my elementary school's talent show, Sharon Idol, in third grade in front of the entire school.
Because of my aptitude for speaking, I was placed on the finance team where I cold call, present and talk to sponsors. I also keep track of the team’s spending and help create a business plan. I enjoy the direct contact with companies and handling Nemesis’ budget. My favorite thing about the finance team is that I can use the skills I am learning and apply them to my job when I am an adult.
Outside of robotics, I am a member of One Project and RHS Model United Nations. I enjoy playing basketball, being outside and watching the New York Mets play.
I cannot wait for the FRC season that lies ahead.
