Hi, my name is Morgan Serra and I am a junior at Robbinsville High School. I am a second-year member on Nemesis’ build team. Throughout my entire educational career, I have preferred math and science classes over other subjects and therefore knew I wanted to pursue this interest in the future. However, it wasn’t until I took my seventh grade technology class that I knew I wanted to major in engineering, specifically either mechanical or environmental. Because of hands-on activities in my technology classes as well as my involvement in Destination Imagination for three years, I discovered that I enjoy challenges that require creativity and building a contraption to solve them. Therefore, I am always excited to learn new skills from my mentors and upperclassmen during the season so that next year, as a senior, I will be able to teach new members and create a positive effect on Nemesis.
As a freshman, I was enrolled in Intro to Engineering and Design which is the first course of the Project Lead The Way program. Last year, as a sophomore, I was enrolled in the second course, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and am taking all honors classes as well as advanced placement physics.
Outside of school, I am involved in Color Guard, Science Olympiad, and Project Unify. I spend my free time volunteering at the Robbinsville library and at Special Olympics’ events, as well as hanging with friends and family. I also tutor two of my peers in algebra and physics. In addition, I work at Lee Turkey Farm and have been employed for four years.
Ultimately, I am glad I joined robotics since it is a life-changing experience. I cannot wait to make more lasting memories this season with my team and my friends!
