Class of 2017
Cornell University

Hi! I’m Jen, a Senior on the Logistics subteam. This is my fourth season with Nemesis and the team has taught me a lot since 9th grade. When I first joined as a freshman,  I didn’t know where I fit on the team, but over the past three years the tech lab has become like a second home. After originally working on marketing, last year I moved to Logistics. Both subteams have taught me many necessary skills for communication and working in a team setting. On Logistics, I coordinate with our mentors, Mrs. Wolfe, Mrs. Vast, and Mrs. Young, to plan and ensure the team’s safe travel to competitions. This includes contacting airlines and hotels, making reservations at restaurants, filling out paperwork, and planning team meetings. Participating on the team has awarded me amazing opportunities and experiences, like traveling to Florida for the Palm Beach Regional, Montreal for Festival de Robotique, and St. Louis for the World Championship. Nemesis is such a successful team and I cannot wait to see what we achieve this year!

Outside of the robotics team, I am also  a Girl Scout Ambassador. In my twelve years as a Girl Scout I completed my bronze and silver awards, and hosted camping events for younger girls. One of my main interests is music, playing and listening to it. I am a flautist and have been playing the flute for nine years. I also took some basic piano courses and dabble in that as well. During the summer if a band holds a concert near Robbinsville, you can bet I’ll be there. My highlight of this past summer was attending a Boys Like Girls Concert. Another one of my interests is math; it’s my favorite subject. This year I am taking Multivariable Calculus as an online program through the University of North Dakota. When not busy with all my other activities, I love watching obscure Documentaries (my current favorite is Candyman), and playing with my orange tabby cat, Phineas. I am really excited for this year, and can’t wait to get this FRC season started!
