Richa Mandrekar
Class of 2019
The College of New Jersey

Hello, my name is Richa Mandrekar and I'm currently a junior on the Nemesis 2590 build team. My brother joined the team in his freshman year and he enjoyed it greatly, thus inspiring me to pursue robotics when I reached high school. Not only did I learn about mechanics and engineering, but I also learned how to work as a team. Assisting and communicating with other teams introduced new and interesting concepts to me and I befriended many from other teams. I am currently very much involved in the electrical aspect of our robot along with my peer mentor. Competition season is my favorite part about robotics because we can showcase our robot and compete against many great teams. There’s always excitement in the arena, whether it’s in the stands, the pit, or on the field. Not only have I participated in building and assembling the robot, but I was also able to be part of the drive team for many offseason events. Especially in the past seasons, I have grown closer with my team leaders and participated in offseason projects.

Outside of robotics, I am most always on the tennis court. I play first singles on the high school varsity team and I am also the tennis team captain. Additionally, I play the piano and dance. In school, I am on the Science Olympiad team, medaling in many of my events. I am also a participant on the Science Bowl team. I look forward to another build season and the competitions ahead on team Nemesis.
