My name is Chinmay Savanur and I am a junior and on the Nemesis software team. I joined Nemesis because science, technology, engineering, and mathematics have always been interesting to me. In particular, my affinity for computer science has led me to pursue it as a career. I enjoy solving problems and creating innovative solutions, and the robotics team gives me the opportunity to utilize my interests and skills with real-life applications. Since I joined the team, I have learned a lot about the mechanics and software that goes into making a robot. I learned a lot about the strategy of the game; every competition I would gain a greater understanding of the game challenge and would implement the scouting skills and practices towards winning. During the build season, I worked with prototyping many of the subsystems that were key parts of the robot. However, I felt my biggest contribution to the team last year came during the competition season. As one of the lead scouts, I captured the information on each match to utilize for strategic decisions and helped organize the scouts in the stands. During the offseason, I developed the RFID-based Attendance System, which is currently being used in the tech lab, and started learning the software for the robot.
Aside from Robotics, I participate in Cross Country, Model United Nations, and Science Olympiad. I volunteer at RWJ-Barnabas Hospital Hamilton during the fall. In my free time, I enjoy reading and hanging out with friends.
In the 2017-2018 season, I hope to learn, observe, and come up with better strategy that will help guide us towards victory in competition season. Also, I hope to improve my coding skills and design and develop software for the robot. I’m looking forward to working with my teammates and having a great season.
