Hi, my name is Griffin Della Grotte and I am a member of Carnegie Mellon’s Class of 2020, pursuing a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering.
In middle and high school, I was a member of Team 2607, The Fighting RoboVikings. There, I lead our robot design and strategy, as well as coached on the field. During this time, we won three events and received all four engineering awards that FIRST offers. I developed an affinity for those blue banners, so I try my best to see more with 2590.
Now in college, I work with CMU's Formula SAE Electric racing team, where I oversee the design and fabrication of a custom distributed control system for our formula-style racecar. This involves everything from high-level system architecture decisions to circuit board design. Additionally, I am one of several students on the team well-versed in CNC machining, so I help with the mechanical fabrication of parts for the car as well.
In the summer and fall of 2018, I'll be traveling to Cupertino, California to work as a Hardware Design intern for Apple in their Special Projects division. Wish me luck!
I mentor 2590 in robot design, manufacturing, strategy, and control systems. I also volunteer as a CSA (Control Systems Advisor) at events in PA/NJ. Look out for me in the orange hat!
